Nestled at the foot of the imposing Cheval Noir mountain, Valmorel is the first resort in the Tarentaise valley in Savoie. A multi-faceted mountain territory, Valmorel is a 4th generation resort, of average size, built after the great achievements of the 1960s and in line with a village resort approach and a better respect of the natural environment.
Seductive by its unique charm mixing authenticity and modernity, Valmorel is distinguished by its perfect integration. In addition to being located in the heart of a ski area of more than 160km of slopes, linked with Saint François-Longchamp, Valmorel is THE resort “skis to feet”, with easily accessible ski lifts going from 1350 to more than 2400m of altitude.
SOME HISTORICAL DATA
Since 2001, the Valmorel Ski Area, a subsidiary of the SOFIVAL group:
– operates and maintains the ski lifts,
– secures and maintains the ski runs,
– ensures the grooming,
– produces artificial snow,
– develops and makes the mountain accessible to as many people as possible, while respecting our environment and heritage.
A SOFIVAL GROUP MOUNTAIN RESORT
Like 2 other ski areas (Avoriaz & La Rosière), Valmorel is part of the SOFIVAL group created in 1938.
Sofival is an independent family group, whose historical activities are linked to the mountains. The group is widely diversified, through direct investments, co-investments or partnerships with funds.
Sofival has a 50-year history of operating ski resorts in well-known Alpine resorts, the group’s historical activity, and a hotel division, both located in the Rhône-Alpes region. The group then diversified through the acquisition of majority stakes, particularly in the energy transition and the city of tomorrow. Sofival remains open to diversification into other sectors.
All the group’s projects are approached with ambition and responsibility, with the aim of achieving sustainable growth.
